I finally got a job... at Forever 21! LOL, I know. I've been working there about a month now. I use to love this store until I started working there. Kinda like loving a restaurant and then getting a job there..as a dishwasher. But, it's not so bad..kinda crowded at the moment because I (and 130 other people) was hired for a new store that was set to open on November 20th, then the 25th, and now December 11th. The discount sucks though..10%, thats not even the taxes and it's the same discount we give clients when they purchase something thats 'damaged' (like a button missing off of a jacket, even thought it comes with an extra button..). Last retail job I worked, we had 35%. Now that's a deal.
Oooh! I recently watched the documentary 'Next: A Primer on Urban Painting'. It was AMAZING. I'd post the trailer but it in no way does the film any justice. I loved it so much and I have a newfound respect for graffiti now. I've always thought it was the modern day equivalent to cave-man paintings. The documentary opens with a Timothy Leary quote on the 21st Century:

"[I]t's going to be sending out signals that will be recognized by anyone on the planet earth right now, and also for those who think think back to the beginning of cave art when young paleoliths were putting art on the walls"

I'm on the same page as Timothy Leary on something other than LSD. Cool.

Heat Wave Flick

Here in Montreal, we're experiencing a major, ass-chaffing heat wave. The heat and humidity are unbearable so the past few evenings I've been staying in, chilling in my underwear by the A/C and watching movies. One of my favorite movies to watch in this scorching heat is Quentin Tarantino's ode to 70's exploitation films, "Death Proof". Considered one of his worst movies it's still entertaining as hell and showcases Tarantino's awesome dialogue. It's got a great cast and the second part's car stunt scenes are intense and CGI-free.

OK.
I'm obsessed with this song. Especially this cover. Amazing.

It's been a while..

Hey...
Long story short, I took a year off of school to work and rethink my choice of study. Last summer after classes ended I got a job at a crappy sports bar. Almost a year goes by, still no sign of me deciding to finally head back to school, and I hate my job more that ever and I'm on the brink of going insane. So I quit. That was nearly 3 months ago. Now I am broke and jobless. Oh, and I'm determined to get an office job, hopefully in relation to some type of art (fashion, music, design, photography-whatever) because I'm realizing that I may as well do something I might actually enjoy and that will bring me closer to figuring out what to do school-wise. Funny thing though, those types of jobs are hard to get when your resume reads "waitress" for the past 3 years and you aren't studying in a related field. I've been having a tough time trying to get my foot in the door, or even a response.
I wish I could say that I'm making the most of my summer with all of this extra time on my hands but, the as the law of summer in the city goes, "no money, no candy".
